Identify and Strengthen Your Personal Constraint

To sell masterfully is to run a system of things and do them in confluence. It's important to think of selling as a system because each part of the sales process effects all the others.
The Theory of Constraints is a highly effective method for improving any system. Here it is in brief:
Don't try to fix any system all at once, because the entire system is actually being limited by only one element. Like the weak link in a chain, that one element is determining the capability level of the whole system.
No matter how much you strengthen the other links in a chain, it's going to break at the weak link every time. You can't out perform the weak link.
Therefore: isolate, focus on, and strengthen the weak link in the system. Concentrate your attention and resources there. When it's been strengthened, the entire system is stronger and capable of more.
Once the weak link has been made stronger, it's time to identify the new weak link. There is always a weak link in every system that is determining the productivity level of the entire system.
This process is ongoing and constitutes a world class method for continuously improving any system - including and especially your personal selling system.
