My Goals and Dreams
Clarify What You Want
The Well Formedness Conditions below will help you clarify three goals that are important to you. In our seminar, we'll be using many positive change patterns and techniques to help you attain these goals.
When it comes to getting what you want, it's important to remember that "Clarity is Super Magnetism".
If you're experiencing difficulties in any area of your life, you can choose those difficulties as the starting point of this process.
How To Use The Well Formedness Conditions
To begin, review this entire page once, just to get familiar with the basic idea. Once you're somewhat familiar with the process, simply follow the steps as instructed.

Starting with #1 on your list, go through all 7 well-formedness conditions below.
As you 'well-form' each of the items on your list, your outcomes will change. As each one is completely well formed using all 7 conditions, write your new outcome in the space provided at the bottom of this page.
7 Well Formedness Conditions
1. State your problem or goal in the positive
State it as something you want, not as something you don't want or as a problem.
Example:
'Lose Weight' is not stated in the positive.
'Attain the weight of 120-127 pounds' is stated in the positive.
Example:
Stop worrying" is not something you want, it's something you don't want and want to stop doing.
Stated in the positive it could be something like:
"Experience more peace of mind" or "Feel more positive about the future"
.
2. Initiated by you
State your outcome as something YOU can do. It must be within your control.
Example:
"I want my boss to be nicer" is not something within the control of the person making that statement.
"Communicate more effectively with my boss" is something you can do.
3. A way to measure your progress
How will you know when you're making progress?
How will you know when you're off course and it's time to course correct?
4. Put the benefits of the problem into your new outcome
What do you get from the problem that's actually good and worth keeping? What is it about the problem you don't want to give up?
Example:
'Smoking helps me relax'. The relaxation is a good thing.
Add that benefit to your description of your new outcome and the outcome becomes:
"Be a relaxed, non smoker."
To achieve "relaxed non-smoker" one would have to become a non smoker AND find a new, healthier way to relax.
5. Sensory based
What will you see, hear smell and taste when you've achieved your goal? Write these things down as descriptions as best you can.
6. Teleological - Write an ultimate outcome vision
Imagine what it will be like when you have what you want.
Create an ultimate outcome vision of it.
Describe what it will be like when you get what you want.
7. Small chunk your outcome into some do-able action steps
What will your first step be? Your next? What's your next major milestone?

Repeat the process with items #2 and #3 on your list.
As you well form each of your items, write your new well formed outcomes below.
